About Me

4 Dec 2009

I joined the Ranger Service in 2003. Before that I was a farmer in Rubare where I lived with my wife.

My name is Male Ndakasi Kambale. I’m married to Kabuho Sinawema. We have six children: three girls and three boys. I was born in Vitchumbi on April 4, 1970. Vitchumbi is a fishing village in the central sector of the park.
My Dad was coming up to retirement at the time but he used to be Station Chief at Kalengera. At that time there was a lot of construction work going on in Kiwanja and they were taking trees from this part of the park. There were only four guards and the forest was immense. It was tough. After this my old Dad retired. Another Ranger left the station and went to live with him at Rubare. We continued working for a time protecting the forest from wood-traffickers and I got into a lot of trouble for denouncing them as strongly as I did.

In October 2003 I requested a transfer to Rumangabo and in February of last year my request was granted.  My father has been my guide throughout my life and I am infinitely grateful for his devotion.
